The Ducati 1199 Superleggera Limited Edition Superbike has been constructed using a plethora of magnesium and titanium. This makes the bike super lightweight at only 177kgs ready roll. Combined with an engine producing over 200bhp, this pocket rocket will go from 0-60 in just 2 seconds and if that doesn’t make your eyes water, perhaps the £54,000 price tag will!
To keep its exclusivity, the Borgo Panigale factory is producing only 500 of these extraordinary superbikes, each one will have its own unique identity number engraved into the top yoke and they are only available in Ducati Corse Red.
So what makes this bike so special? Well, along with the lightweight subframe and engine components, the Ducati features full carbon fibre fairing panels, a full titanium exhaust system, lightweight Öhlins suspension units front and rear, Brembo M50 Monobloc brakes and even a weight saving lithium-ion battery.
The 1198cc v-twin Superquadro engine features titanium con-rods and valves and special two-ring pistons. The engine also sports a precision balanced lightweight crankshaft that uses tungsten inserts.
The Superleggera also features a new Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) system which works in conjunction with the Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and Engine Brake Control (EBC). These new electronic systems allow the bike to be set up with a more race track focused edge.
